Reading through the Vietnam veterans hearings for benefits, This hearing tells the reader Agent Orange was not made special for Vietnam but was a commercially made USDA chemical used in war. these two chemicals used in Vietnam were known by the code name of the color of the stripe.

Agent Orange was produced in the United States from the late 1940s and was used in industrial agriculture and was also sprayed along railroads and power lines to control undergrowth in forests.

It has been said that Agent Orange was made special for Vietnam, the historical documents show these same chemicals had been used many years before. It is also said that the chemicals used in Vietnam were of the tactical brand and what was shown on the U.S. Exports was a commercial version which could not harm us. This is simply not true.
